First Annual Chairman’s Challenge Winner: Congratulations Minneapolis Chapter

The Minneapolis Chapter succeeded in having the most Congressional meetings in 2014! Chapter Executive David Manderson and several contractors took part in five meetings with Members of Congress in the area, including: Rep. Collin Peterson, Rep. Amy Klobuchar, Rep. Eric Paulsen, Rep. Tim Walz, and Rep. Rick Nolan.

The Minneapolis Chapter will receive an award for its success at the Association Executive Institute meeting in February and it will also receive one free registration to the 2015 Legislative Conference in Washington, DC on May 11-14.

The goal of the Chairman’s Challenge was to increase NECA member involvement in grassroots by challenging each chapter to host a meeting with a Member of Congress, which gives NECA contractors an opportunity to discuss our policy positions and show Members of Congress first-hand how these issues impact the electrical construction industry.

Overall the program was a great success with 33 Congressional meetings in 2014, compared to 10 in 2013. We want to thank all participants for expanding NECA’s government affairs and grassroots efforts.
