NECA 2009 Seattle Kicks Off

Thousands of electrical professions joined the National Electrical Contractors Association for its 2009 convention and trade show today in Seattle.

The convention and NECA Show are the premier events for the electrical construction industry, with strategies for handling the lagging construction market dominating this year's event.

NECA Show Opens to Fanfare

"In tough times, you have to take a step back and think about what your company's financial goals are," said NECA president Rex Ferry. "It's a chance to review everything you were taking for granted and maybe make some changes you wouldn't have considered before. You take it one challenge at a time, and NECA contractors have a great advantage with the tools and resources they get from NECA. The contractors here at NECA 2009 Seattle want to succeed, not just survive."

NECA 2009 Seattle offers the industry’s best education, networking opportunities, and market intelligence, all focused on the needs of electrical contractors working in today’s economy.

NECA 2009 Seattle educational opportunities include workforce training, smart tools for productivity, safety instruction, and new market development, especially green energy solutions. Participants can learn from the experts about the building trends and technology shaping how they do business.

Along with economic management strategies, contractors at NECA 2009 Seattle are focused on the green energy market. "Our goals is to give electrical contractors the tools to help their customers meet their own green building goals, whether in achieving LEED certification, making buildings more energy efficient, or using renewable energy technology in their construction projects," Ferry said. "Green building practices are shaping the majority of current construction projects, and smart energy choices have the greatest impact on green building."

The sold-out NECA Show features over 240 exhibitors with products and services specifically for electrical contractors. The Northwest Naval Band, sponsored by Helmets to Hardhats, opened the Show floor today with great fanfare.

In addition to the trade show and educational opportunities, NECA 2009 Seattle also hosts NECA's student summit, finalist presentations in the Green Energy Challenge, and inspirational presentations for Howard Behar and Erik Weihenmayer.

Seminars, workshops and other events will be live-blogged on blog.necaconvention.org, with shorter updates posted on NECA Convention's Facebook Fan page and Twitter.
