NECA and ELECTRI International Seek to Assist NECA Contractors Affected by Hurricane Harvey

by Adrianne Gracias | Aug 31, 2017

Many of the National Electrical Contractors Association electrical transmission and distribution and inside electrical contractors and their employees have been working tirelessly to bring power back to flooded areas in Texas and Louisiana, part of ongoing disaster relief efforts that started after Hurricane Harvey hit last week.  But the companies doing that vital work have been hurt as well.

NECACares17The ongoing devastation has led NECA and ELECTRI International to issue a call for donations to replenish a relief fund and reach out to contractors who have been affected. The NECA Disaster Relief Fund was established in 2005 after the destruction caused by Hurricane Katrina. Since then, the fund has been used to help NECA members rebuild.

Last year, NECA stepped in to help NECA members and local chapters recover after floods in southeastern Louisiana affected thousands of families and businesses in Baton Rouge and its surrounding communities. NECA contractors affected by Hurricane Sandy in 2012 were also helped through the Disaster Relief Fund.

This a unique way for NECA contractors to support their fellow NECA contractors, many of whom need help. You can contribute to the NECA Disaster Relief Fund in two ways:

  • Post a check to ELECTRI International, 3 Bethesda Metro Center, Suite 1100, Bethesda, MD 20814, and include “NECA Disaster Relief Fund” in the notes section of the check;
  • Call 301-215-4548 to make a contribution via credit card.

To request assistance from the NECA Disaster Relief Fund, please visit www.electri.org/content/neca-disaster-relief-fund to indicate your specific needs. Contractors with offers of support in addition to monetary contributions can share this information at the link as well.
