Competition Heats Up for ELECTRI Grants

by Jason Langbehn | May 17, 2017

As ELECTRI International moves into its grant-making season, interest is high among faculty investigators and NECA Student Chapters for available awards.

Deborah Halpern, ELECTRI's Director of Operations, is responsible for the coordination of proposal review and logistics.  She recently reported eight applications for the Early Career Awards, which focus on research opportunities for younger faculty members with awards up to $9,000 each.

Also, four NECA Student Chapter proposals for the Student Passport Initiative have been submitted. Students, college faculty, NECA Chapter sponsors and local contractors come together to provide much-neeeded electrical service for an underprivileged domestic or international community. ELECTRI will award up to $20,000 to support the initiative selected by the Council.

Halpern also said eleven Green Energy Challenge presentations in which Student Chapters offer detailed plans for a retrofit in their local community.

A jury of ELECTRI Council members will invite three finalist teams to present proposals in front of contractors and industry allies during the NECA 2017 Seattle. ELECTRI offers cash awards to the winning school and winning individual presenter.
