NECA Contractors Head to Texas, Florida to Assist with Hurricane Relief Efforts

Sep 11, 2017

Members of the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) around the southeastern U.S. have been at the center of recovery efforts to help communities hit by a massive hurricane and flooding in the past few weeks.

Hurricane Irma has knocked the power out of millions of homes and businesses in Florida, and crews from a host of NECA contractors have been prepared to respond.

It is important to highlight the new NICER agreement under effect now. In recognition of the current and future emergency situations in the U.S., as of Sept. 1, the National Inside Construction Emergency Response Agreement is available for use by our contractors and members. This will allow for contractors to respond more quickly to these emergencies.

NECACares17Finally, the devastation has led NECA and ELECTRI International to issue a call for donations to replenish a relief fund and reach out to contractors who have been affected. The NECA Disaster Relief Fund was established in 2005 after the destruction caused by Hurricane Katrina. Since then, the fund has been used to help NECA members rebuild.

The recovery efforts from Hurricane Harvey in Texas as well as Hurricane Irma in Florida will be ongoing. You can contribute to the NECA Disaster Relief Fund in two ways:

  • Post a check to ELECTRI International, 3 Bethesda Metro Center, Suite 1100, Bethesda, MD 20814, and include “NECA Disaster Relief Fund” in the notes section of the check;
  • Call 301-215-4548 to make a contribution via credit card.

Visit www.electri.org/content/neca-disaster-relief-fund to indicate your specific needs and request assistance from the NECA Disaster Relief Fund.

Thank you to the many contractors who have already donated and shown their support.
