New Home for the Atlanta Falcons Set for Action this Fall
National Electrical Contractors Association contactors once again are playing a big role in building something impressive, and, over the next few years, it will stage a host of high-profile events.
That would be Mercedes-Benz Stadium in downtown Atlanta, where members of the local NECA chapter have been busy finishing the construction of the multi-purpose stadium.
The hometown Falcons of the National Football League kicked off the stadium’s opening by playing a preseason football game on Aug. 26. College football’s Chick-fil-A kickoff games will be played there over the Labor Day weekend. Other notable college football games such as SEC Championship Game and the national championship game will be played in the stadium this season.
The stadium, which will also be the home of Atlanta United FC of Major League Soccer, features a retractable roof and a halo video screen that circles the upper part of the $1.5 billion structure.
David Sokolow of the Atlanta Chapter, NECA said NECA contractors Inglett & Stubbs, LLC, Cleveland Electric Co. and UpTime Electric Company, Inc. partnered with IBEW 613 to take part in the primary electrical construction of the project. NECA contractors White Electrical Construction Co. and Miller Electric also participated as subcontractors to different vendors. (Inglett & Stubbs also did the electrical construction on SunTrust Park, the Atlanta Braves’ baseball park, which opened earlier this year.)
