New Online Resources Available through “Work Safely with Silica” Website

Jun 06, 2015

120913_silica2The illnesses caused by breathing silica dust, such as silicosis, are incurable – but they are preventable. Find the latest on regulatory efforts and create a plan o control exposures at Work Safely with Silica, a one-stop source of information on how to prevent a silica hazard and protect workers.

Workers may be exposed to dangerous levels of silica dust when cutting, drilling, grinding, or otherwise disturbing materials that contain silica. These materials and tasks are common on construction jobs. Breathing that dust can lead to serious, often fatal illnesses.

These online resources contain information that workers — and contractors — need to know to recognize the hazard, understand the risk factors and work safely with silica. Visit www.silica-safe.org for more information.

Find silica-related handouts, fact sheets, videos, toolbox talks and other resources for workers and contractors at www.silica-safe.org/training-and-other-resources.
